Q. I have several crew neck pullover Jackie sweaters by JCrew in wines, deep blues and teals. I normally just wear these with jeans. I feel I need a necklace or something to spruce it up a bit. I don’t want anything too glitzy as I just will just wear it for daily use (mom on the go, volunteering). I’m never quite sure what type of necklace to wear with crew necks (long or short).

A. For a crew neck sweater, I prefer a necklace that is short (hits right around the neckline) or one that is longer, like a pendant necklace. One of the new trendy collar necklaces also looks great with a crew neck. In other words, just about every style necklace works!

Here are some options that are perfect for every day.

Q. I recently picked up some striped tees (the open V-neck from Anthropologie in orange and yellow) and the Dotted tee in navy from JCrew. They are just casual tees, but I would like to wear some type of necklace with them. I’m stumped as to what works with these (if anything). Can you give me some suggestions?

A. I love the idea of dressing up a basic t-shirt (printed or plain) with a statement necklace — the epitome of laid-back chic that’s perfect for summer. Look for bold bright candy colored necklaces and chunky chains to make a statement, or go for something more delicate for a subtle look; the possibilities are truly endless. Here are some options for every budget and style.

Q. I’ve been seeing a lot of pictures of celebrities wearing chokers. Is this trend coming back? Please say no!

A. You’ve got a keen eye! Like it or not, chokers and collars are indeed making a comeback — at least for another season or two, having been spotted on the Spring 2012 runways at shows like Charlotte Ronson, Donna Karan, and Elie Tahari. No need to fear this trend, the new chokers are far more fashionable than the ones you remember from the late ’80s and early ’90s. Ranging from chain link chokers to Cleopatra-esque collars, the one thing the new chokers have in common: they make a statement. Try one of these chic options with a plunge neck dress or a classic button down shirt.

Q. I have a couple floral collar necklaces and I’m not sure what to wear them with. Can you help?

A. This is such a bold style that it’s best to let the necklace make a statement and keep everything around it simple. This applies to your top (or dress) as well as any other jewelry; earrings should be small and simple. A chunky short necklace looks great with crew or scoop neck tops as well as button down collar shirts.

Q. This summer I have purchased a couple of bold print dresses, one by Velvet and one by ERGE. They both have deep V necks, and are more casual than dressy (both a lightweight jersey knit). I really don’t know what kind of a necklace (or other jewelry) I should were with these. A bold necklace seems to compete with the print and just looks like too much, and a delicate necklace looks out of place. Any ideas?

A. As the owner of several printed v-neck day dresses, I have a lot of experience accessorizing them. This summer, my jewelry of choice is a long pendant necklace or long chain necklace and a gold bangle. Here are some jewelry options to pair with your summer dresses:
