Q. I’m always running around for my job in sales and I’m in search of a really stylish yet roomy tote bag to carry my materials, can you recommend some?

A. What you need is a lightweight tote with a strap that’s long enough to fit over your shoulder. Here are some options that are sure to impress your clients:

Q. A very generous friend gifted me a pair of leopard Louboutin pumps. They are Beeeautiful. I’m wondering what to wear them with so as not to overdo the look. I’m assuming a pair of skinny black trousers, but what kind of top? I have a nephew’s engagement party at a restaurant coming up and thought this would be the perfect opportunity.

A. Now that’s a friend! Can you make an introduction? Kidding aside, congrats on being the proud owner of a new pair of leopard Louboutin pumps. It is no secret that I have a serious love for leopard print shoes, so you’ve come to the right place.

There’s a reason I love leopard pumps: they’re eternally chic and can be worn with almost everything. A few examples: jeans and a blazer, skinny black pants and a tunic, a pencil skirt and blouse, camel trousers and a sweater, a little black dress…see what I mean? Everything. Day or night, work or weekend, dressy or casual, leopard pumps do it all.

Some favorite colors to pair with leopard are red, black, brown, camel, orange, blue, gold, yellow, pink, green, mustard and charcoal grey. Leopard shoes can even be paired with prints, but this is where it can get a little tricky, so if you’re not comfortable mixing your prints, then stick with solid colors. Take a look at two of Heidi Klum’s recent looks for great ways to wear leopard pumps with prints.

For those of you reading this who don’t already own a pair of leopard print shoes, it’s time to add this key piece to your wardrobe now — and you don’t have to spend Louboutin prices. Here are some options to get you started:

Q. I have a charcoal knit sweater dress and I’m not sure what to wear for leg wear and shoes. Is it okay to wear tights (I’m in my forties)? For shoes, I have grey or red closed toe wedges, would that work? I would like booties, but I’m petite (5”2 size 4/6) and I’m afraid the boots would make my legs look shorter. Any ideas? I want to wear this dress for a baby shower I’m hosting and also to a night out to dinner and a play with friends.

A. A sweater dress can be worn several ways; depending on the weather, you can opt for bare legs or of course tights (no matter what your age), but you can also opt for leggings or skinny jeans for a more casual look.

On your feet, your black closed toe wedges will look great with tights. Don’t completely rule out booties, though — a low bootie that is the same color as your tights can be worn even by petite women. Another option is to choose a taller boot that hits an inch or two below your knee, worn with tights or even bare legs.

To change up the look of a sweater dress, try adding a belt, or even a pretty scarf or vest. Here are some options to consider:

Q. I’m thinking of purchasing these pants from Banana Republic for fall but I’m stuck on what to wear with them. Can you give me some ideas for tops and shoes? Thanks!

A. Classic tailored wool pants are timeless, and a great addition to your wardrobe. The best part about these camel pants is that you can update them each year with trendier tops and shoes. This fall, I’d pair them with a tie-front blouse and platform loafers or a faux fur vest and leopard print booties. A blazer, cardigan, or leather jacket would also work well.

For me, animal prints are the perfectl pairing for camel, but it also pairs well with brown, black, red, mustard, plum, and other typically autumn colors. You can also have fun with camel and pair it with brights and even neon colors.

The bottom line? A great-fitting pair of camel trousers is well worth the $110 price tag.

Q. Could you give me some ideas for an everyday fall/winter jacket (for Minnesota)? I want something stylish, but casual. I have a short, navy J.Crew pea coat (and other longer coats), but I’m having trouble finding a cute, flattering jacket. I’m 5’2, size 4 and in my forties.

A. For a casual everyday coat with a heavy dose of style (and warmth), look no further than faux fur coats, or coats with faux fur trim and lining. Though nothing but a super heavy down parka will brave the bitter Minnesota winters, these coats will take you through fall — or perhaps even further with some strategic layering underneath.

Since you’re petite, look for belted styles or lengths no longer than mid-thigh for the most flattering look.
