Q. What is a functional yet fashionable school tote for a college student like me? I have noticed that many female students at my school carry around Longchamp Le Pliage bags. I do like these, but would like something more unique for under $200, and perhaps more durable.

A. Whether you’re a student or someone entering the job force, a functional, chic and affordable tote is a must. You want something that’s stylish, lightweight, roomy enough for all of your essentials and can fit over your shoulder. Here are some options you’ll want to carry with you everywhere, and they’re all under $150:

Q. I have been searching for a similar handbag to the Kooba Avery Tote that I saw Vanessa Minnillo carrying in 2008. Before I totally give up, can you recommend something similar or one in a reasonable price range? I love the style of this bag, and although this is so last year’s bag, it would be great to find something similar.

A. I love this bag too and it’s very hard to find now. We found some great alternatives that have the same sort of lived-in luxe look of the original Kooba Avery - and all under $200.

Q. I am going to a wedding in a few weeks and I bought the cutest dress. I have great shoes to go with it, but cannot figure out what accessories to wear. I normally do not wear earrings, as my hair covers them, but would like ideas on a necklace or pin or something. HELP!

A. Cute dress! Simple, chic and timeless. The black and white palette is the perfect blank canvas for some gorgeous statement jewelry. We would opt for a short but dramatic necklace paired with a sparkly cuff bracelet or cocktail ring. Below are some chic choices under $100 - we chose a neutral color scheme, but you can also incorporate colorful baubles and gems if you like.

Q. I have been eyeing a metallic tote to add some dimension to my mostly neutral wardrobe. Would a metallic tote look out of season in the winter? Thanks so much for your help! I love your website!

A. While not as “hot’ as they have been in past seasons, there are many gorgeous metallic handbags out there right now. They can absolutely be worn in the winter and are great for brightening up a neutral wardrobe. Another handbag color to consider is red. Not only is red super hot this season, but it’s a classic color that is ideal for adding dimension to a neutral wardrobe since it pairs well with so many colors. Here are some tote options for you to consider:

Q. I am an active college student searching for a large stylish bag to hold a couple of books, my school supplies, makeup, etc. Where can I find something large enough that’s still trendy and affordable?

A. We found several stylish handbag options to take you from class to shopping to dinner with friends, and not a boring tote or collegiate backpack in the bunch. The best part? Nothing costs more than $100:
