Q. I’m going for a weekend in July to New York City to meet up with my girlfriends from college for a mini-reunion (6 years out). We will go out for drinks, dine at some hot spots, and lounge at the rooftop pool of a very “Sex And the City” hotel. PLEASE help me with my packing list!

A. Ooh, sounds fun! Since your activity list seems mostly social, I’ll skip recommendations for daytime touring and shopping and stick with some suggestions for your evenings out and time lounging at the pool. I’m not sure if you’re a Carrie, Samantha or Charlotte, but the following should keep you looking “Sex And The City” chic all weekend long.

For the rooftop pool, go for glam, rather than practical. Start with a flattering swimsuit and add a chic tunic or caftan cover up. Add metallic flat sandals, oversized sunglasses and a sophisticated tote. Finish up the look with a gold cuff and hoop earrings - just remember to take them off if you go swimming! (Bonus: wear the tunic with white jeans when not at the pool)

For your evenings out, your best bet is to pack a few dresses - they take up little room in your suitcase, and will make getting dressed for the night a no-brainer. Just add some great shoes, a clutch, a wrap and some jewelry and you’re all set. (Bonus: dress them down for daytime with your flat metallic sandals from the poolside look)

Q. I am trying to decide what to wear for a 7-day honeymoon to Greece (specifically Santorini and Athens) in July. I want some flirty, sexy, stylish, yet comfortable outfits for the hot weather there. We will be doing a couple dressy dinners, sightseeing, laying by the pool and walking along the beach, and maybe going out to a bar/club. I want to look chic and hip—it’s my honeymoon! I am a 25-year-old size 4/6 with a larger bust (34D). Any suggestions on what I could buy and pack for this trip? Thank you so much!

Q. I am looking for a nice, roomy and stylish tote to take on board flights.
- Under the Seat

A. I buy a new bag to bring on board 1-2 times a year. The leather ones usually get scuffed up so I look for bags that can carry all my essentials such as a laptop, magazines, a book, toiletries and a bottle of water. If you travel often you’ll want a bag that will carry all of your needs and will be strong enough to hold all your gear, as well as have straps that fit over your shoulder. It’s good to have a bag that you won’t mind a few scratches or marks on after constantly fitting it under the seat.

Q. I am 30 y/o and will be going on vacation to Europe in 2 weeks. I have to dress to impress the people who will meet me while I want to be comfortable and stylish on the plane. I am thinking about wearing leggings with a tunic, flats and trench coat. But I would like to add a cardigan since it might be cold on the plane. Do you have any suggestions?
- Cold Case

A. A tunic, leggings and flats are the ideal travel wardrobe for a trip to Europe. You’ll be comfortable and will avoid any constricting clothing. Bring along a light wrap like one from our favorite, Love Quotes, to wear when the trench is not needed. I’ve found several cardigan styles from long to wrap, cashmere to cotton.

Q. I’m trying to figure out what to pack for my three week honeymoon in Thailand. We will be on the beach most of the time, but spending a few days in Bangkok & Chiang Mai. We are going mid-February so temp will be in the 80s.
-Bliss Bound

A.  I am hooked on water bound vacations and have learned the ins and outs of packing, whether it’s low key surfing in Costa Rica or a relaxing boat trip in the Caribbean. The great part of a warm weather locale is that you can pack more since the pieces are thinner and take up less room in your bag. One big bag is enough, don’t pack more than 5 pairs of shoes (sandals, flip flops, etc.) and pack more sunscreen than you think you’ll need, or be willing to buy a few items when you travel. And consider using shampoo to wash intimates along the way to cut down on the amount of underwear and bras that you pack.

It gets quite humid during the middle of the day in Thailand so you may have to deal with the sweat factor. Don’t pack anything you may worry about perspiration stains setting in before you can get home to do a wash.

Packing List:

  • Lightweight dresses - I like thin silk blend dresses that can be rolled up and crinkled so no wrinkle worries.
  • Cotton tunics that double as both beach cover up and a chic look with short shorts or long pants.
  • A few solid tanks in white, navy and black.
  • Short sleeve polos - they look nicer than a basic t-shirt.
  • Shorts in varying lengths from Bermuda for shopping and exploring to shorter version for water bound days.
  • Four swimsuits - hey, it’s your honeymoon and you need to rotate the styles and your look. Choose a bandeau for optimum tan line avoidance, a halter style for good cleavage, a one piece for any water activities and one patterned swimsuit for sass.
  • Two pairs of sunglasses - it took me two vacations to learn this lesson when I was stuck buying an expensive replacement pair that I didn’t even like because the cheap ones didn’t give me enough shade or UV protection.
  • Flip-flops for daily beach wear - buy an inexpensive pair from Old Navy or Havianas and if they get dirty, just toss at the end of your honeymoon.
  • Sandals - high heel and flats.
  • Cute sneakers.
