Q. I’m totally obsessed with the Versace skirt in this Elle Magazine feature. I haven’t been able to find anything like it in a more reasonable price range. Can you find/suggest similar pieces that cost less? It would be great to get the entire look!

A. I also love the way Joe Zee styled this high waisted front-vent skirt from Versace ($795 at neimanmarcus.com) - it’s the perfect mix of sophisticated chic (the pencil skirt), sex appeal (the corset) and casual (the military jacket). Paired with strappy python heels, it’s a great look that combines many of spring’s top trends. We styled a similar look for you using affordable pieces:

Q. I have such a hard time finding cropped pants/jeans that actually hug the calves a la Audrey Hepburn. Can you recommend any?

hepburn-pants-180.jpgA. Cropped skinny pants happen to be a big trend for spring, so it will be easier to find the pants you’re looking for. Try looking for heavier weight cropped leggings, skinny cropped trousers or legging jeans - these will hug your calves and give you the look you’re after. Below are some options to try.

Q. After what feels like the 100th snowstorm this winter, I have come to the conclusion that my winter boots just aren’t cutting it. I need something that’s cute, warm and waterproof. Any suggestions?

A. Though it might seem late in the season to buy a good pair of snow boots, it’s actually the perfect time. Just about everything is on sale, and whatever you buy this year, you’ll certainly wear next year and for years after that. So buy the best quality boot you can afford, it will be worth it! Below is a selection of stylish and functional winter boots that will almost have you wishing for the next snowfall.

Q. I’m trying to score a trench coat on sale during the holidays. I’m looking for a single breasted trench coat in petite with a removable lining and removable hood. The hood is not a must-have, but the removable lining is. I have searched and searched for years and I have yet to find one. Any help would be appreciated!

A. You’re right, that is a tall (or petite!) order. We found the perfect coat for you that meets all of your requirements and is available in brown or black. The Gallery ‘Nepage’ Three Quarter Length Trench, on sale for $129.90 at nordstrom.com. It’s a classic single breasted style with a removable lining and detachable hood which will give you 3-season wear. Below are a few more options as well.

Q. I love wearing denim skirts but hate how the front zipper has a tendency to add bulk and stick out in exactly the area I don’t want any extra fullness. Do you have any suggestions for a short denim skirt with a flat front or another trick to keep my tummy from looking larger in my beloved denim mini looks?

A. I know exactly what you mean, and it can be very frustrating. Your best bet is to seek out a style that does not have a traditional zip-front fly, perhaps one with buttons down the front or an asymmetrical seam, or even a stretch pull-on style. Below are a few atypical options that should solve the issue for you while still giving you the casual cool look of a denim skirt.
