Denim on anything besides pants usually conjures up images of decades we don’t want to remember and outfits that make us wince, but this pretty dress by urban apparel label Nooworks gives the material new life. Wear it on your winter vacation, or keep it for your spring wardrobe. This dress easily goes from day to night: pair it with a straw tote and gladiator sandals during the day and switch to heels and a clutch for night.

Nooworks Tie Front Dress - Denim, $58 at moxsie.com.
Sometimes it’s nice to dress down, but it’s never nice to look sloppy. Stock up on cute t-shirts that are both stylish and comfortable from Etsy’s independent designers. Here are our top picks:

There are six messages to be purchased separately for $65 or together for $250. Each bracelet is an embossed 14k gold plated matte finish charm imported from Greece, made in the US.

These bracelets make thoughtful gifts for birthdays or other special occasions. And for that sometimes snobby gal pal? Get her the “Be Nice” bracelet.

Picture 1.pngLara Miller is a Chicago-based independent fashion designer who creates sustainable contemporary clothing inspired by her city’s architecture and culture. Her clothes are made from eco-friendly fabrics like organic cotton, hand-loomed bamboo, hemp and vegan silk. Adding to the sustainability factor, most garments can be wrapped or flipped into a completely different look.

We love the variety of party dresses in her fall and holiday 2009 collections - there are many colors, shapes and styles to fit everyone’s body type and personal tastes.

Lara Miller is available online at laramiller.com and in more than 50 boutiques worldwide. Most items are priced between $50 and $250.
Rebecca Shepherd is an independent Brooklyn-based jewelry designer. She started out designing jewelry for her friends’ proms, and now she has clients nationwide.
