Jewelry designer Asha Patel believes jewelry should mean something to both the designer and wearer. With this philosophy in mind, she launched her most recent collection, Threads, last month. Threads includes nine symbols that translate into different meanings from different parts of the world. The pendants are made of hand-cast sterling and hang on colored silk cords.
The necklaces ($45 each), including OM, Peace, Heart, Lotus, Clover and Ribbon are designed to bring the wearer luck, love, peace of mind and more. As if that's not enough to ask from a piece of jewelry, a portion of sales from three of the styles, Ribbon, Peace and Lotus benefit charities of Patel's choosing (the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Doctors Without Borders and Asha for Education, respectively).
