NADINE_DISTRESSEDBLACK_SIDE.jpgA footwear brand that just danced across our radar is Koolaburra, a fashion-forward label with an authentic heritage in sheepskin. Inspired by both modern and classic love songs, the line strives for the perfect juxtaposition of rocker chic and boho sensibility. We love how they married clogs and booties in the style to the left for an utterly chic result. Not only are these shoes stylish, they are functional too: lined with sheepskin, they'll be sure to keep your toes toasty warm this fall and winter.

New York fashion week: Duro Olowu

doru-olowu-spring-2012-thumb.jpgAnother up-and-coming label that caught our eye during fashion week was Duro Olowu. The London-based designer mixed interesting prints (like floral and leopard) and classic, feminine silhouettes for very "proper" yet statement looks. The collection was inspired by West Indian immigrants arriving in England in the 1950s, including Olowu's mother, and has a clear vintage vibe. Here are some of our favorite looks:

creatures-of-the-wind_spring2012_thumb.jpgIt's always interesting to see which new designers are showing at fashion week, and one label that definitely caught our eye this season was Creatures of the Wind, designed by Shane Gabier and Chris Peters. After only two collections, the duo had already nabbed a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination, so we knew we could expect  good things. Inspired by psychedelic experiences, the collection is actually extremely wearable with pops of bright colors, eye-catching prints, and on-trend silhouettes. We're already adding a few looks to our spring wish lists!

vintage_navajo_sweaters_thumb.jpgNavajo-inspired knits are a major trend for fall, and Etsy has a plentiful selection of sweaters available in their vintage section. Here are a few finds we were able to dig up:

dscn6630_medium.jpgWith the rainy and cloudy weather on the east coast this week, we are wishing we could be in Hawaii soaking up the sun and swimming in the ocean. With Tiffany Chou's gold Maui charm necklace, we can get one step closer to feeling like we're really there! Originally from Maui herself, the jewelry designer is now based in NYC, where she launched her jewelry line last summer. All of her pieces are created in New York, where she can oversee the entire process personally. Wear her pieces for small taste of Hawaiian beauty every day!

Line we love: American Gold

American Gold's collection is very feminine and bohemian, but with a little bit of fashion-forward edge. We love the sexy lace pieces in interesting silhouettes, cut out tops and dresses, and itty bitty shorts that are perfect paired with a blousy top. Find the collection online for around $100 to $250 at sendthetrendboutique.com.american_gold_clothing_thumb.jpg

yhst-29499468329874_2173_24404768.gifJust added to our shopping list? This mustard-colored blouse by Koch Abbot. This color is so in for  fall, and we can't wait to pair it with dark denim and reds. We love the laid-back vibe the rolled up sleeves give off. Made in Texas, the blouse is 100% organic cotton so it's good for the earth too!

A chic... fanny pack?

| Comments
When I think fanny pack, I think of tourists wearing shorts, t-shirts, and visors that I nearly run over every day on my way through Times Square. But lately we've been hearing a lot of buzz about trendy, designer fanny packs. And we hate to admit it, but after seeing so many interpretations of the one-time fashion faux pas, they're beginning to grow on us.

matahari-fanny-packs.jpg

One of the lines who does the fanny pack well is Matahari, with their collaboration with Lovemade. The leather bags, available at 80spurple.com, look luxe with trendy details like a chain strap and fringe tassle. We also love the price point - these bags are all under $100!matahari_fanny-packs_thumb.jpg
