Indian Summer: Native American-Inspired Style

| comment

by Stacy Cox

I was up late last night (my first mistake, I admit) channel surfing (my second mistake) and as my fingers did the walking I got sucked into the ending scenes of Dances With Wolves. [Side note/Public Service Announcement to Kevin Costner in the event he is a StyleBakery reader: please make another movie with the same je ne sais quoi as Dances With Wolves, The Bodyguard and Bull Durham rather than some of your more recent ventures!] Remember how gorgeous Mary McDonnell looked in the movie? I had forgotten how beautiful all the turquoise jewelry, wild, wavy hair, feathers and buck skin dresses looked.

Inspired by the looks in the movie, I promptly went into my jewelry box this morning and unearthed my chunky turquoise bracelet. I bought mine about 6 years ago and have worn it on and off ever since - I always get compliments when I wear it. This got my brain percolating as to how we can add a little bit of Native American flavor into our summer style without going too "tribal". This look evokes passion mixed with a soulful earthy element, so have fun with it and look alive!
