What's Our Summer Uniform?

You may have a walk-in-closet's-worth of summer clothes, yet somehow you find yourself reaching for the same chic combination that makes you look and feel great, regardless of the occasion. Here, our editors share their no-fail go-to signature looks of the season. Call it updated nautical or Parisian flair, either way, it's my signature look this summer. On any given day, you'll find me in some variation of a lightweight shrunken cardigan (striped or solid) paired with a drapey tank (striped or solid) and ankle length jeans or knee length shorts. Metallic shoes, whether ballet flats, flat sandals or wedges and a colorful bag complete the look. Regardless of the occasion or the weather, I feel chic and put together!

This summer is all about comfort for me and I find that a dress seems to do the trick no matter what the occasion. I especially love this one, the slightly A-line shape is easy to wear and the fabric is "anything goes" so its perfect for summer getaways. It comes in an array of fabulous colors and depending on the invite, the silhouette looks great with metallic flip flops or a neutral sandal. Being a big accessory gal, I love to wear a cuff or bangles and simple gold hoops. I am really into big fun rings this summer - even with no other jewelry, they can really update an outfit. I'm also addicted to lightweight scarves and wraps this summer - they add color and act as the perfect layer when things cool down.

My black linen skirt is my go-to piece this season. I'm wearing it with everything from loose, floaty blouses to retro t-shirts. I'm especially loving it with unusual, artsy, chic little cardigans, like this one from Anthropologie, with a slim tank underneath and these can't-live-without-'em Charles David wedges in the patent pink or black colors. I love a simple wristlet to finish it off - this cheap chic NY & Co. version does the job perfectly.

I've been working a lot this summer (I wish I was at the beach!), so my summer uniform has to be polished. I start with a pair of unusual flats - these ballerinas with fabric bows from Anthropologie fit the bill. Then I add my basics. I have been living in dark denim shorts this summer, paired simply with a white top (sometimes just a plain white tee) and an eye-catching belt. For accessories, I always wear gold jewelry, never silver. And it's not really summer until I've splurged on a Gryson bag.
 

I love bright colors for summer! The cotton polo, cropped pants, and fire engine-red wedges are a breeze to wear in the hot months. I just add a vibrant tote and a pop of color to my wrist, and I'm out the door.
